Google is set to manufacture its phones at an existing Foxconn facility in Tamil Nadu, a southern state of India. Additionally, the firm plans to independently produce drones in the state.

Amidst geopolitical tensions with the West, India has emerged as a key destination for global companies seeking to diversify supply lines away from China. Last year, Google announced its plans to manufacture Pixel smartphones in India, starting with the Pixel 8. “India is a priority market for Pixel smartphones, and we’re committed to bringing the best of our hardware and built-in software capabilities to people across the country,” the company stated in a blog post.
