Sri Lanka’s foreign worker remittances hit US$5 billion in 2025

The Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) reports that foreign worker remittances reached a record US$5 billion in 2025, reflecting strong inflows throughout the year.

August 2025 recorded US$680.8 million, up 19.3% from US$577.5 million in August 2024.

For the period January–August 2025, remittances totaled US$5,116 million, compared with US$4,288.2 million in the same period last year.
