Women will soon join the Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) as drivers and conductors, dressed in newly designed uniforms at air hostess level, Transport Minister Bimal Rathnayake said.
He noted that interviews are underway to recruit 450 drivers and 300 conductors, with female staff included in the intake.
In the initial phase, women will be deployed to school buses in the Colombo district, before the programme is expanded.
