Evolution Auto and Ather Energy launched the 2025 Ather 450X with an eight-year battery warranty at the ‘Ather Experience Zone’ in Galle Face, Sri Lanka.

Evolution Auto, in partnership with Ather Energy, electrified Colombo with the exclusive Ather Experience Zone at Galle Face. From 10 AM to 10 PM on Sunday, 17 August, attendees enjoyed an immersive opportunity to test ride and explore the 2025 Ather 450X. future of urban mobility.

The Ather Experience Zone offered more than just a product showcase. It was a dynamic event where visitors experienced the performance and power, style and sustainability of Ather scooters first-hand. Guests enjoyed test rides that allowed them to feel Ather’s acceleration, handling and ride comfort. Technology demonstrations showcased smart connectivity and app integration, while expert sessions explained the benefits of EV ownership and the available charging infrastructure. Many visitors also took photos with branded setups that were ideal for sharing on social media.

During the event, Evolution Auto officially introduced the 2025 Ather 450X Super Scooter in Sri Lanka. The launch marked a major milestone in the country’s electric mobility journey. Branded as a super scooter, the model combinesd advanced technology, strong performance and a sleek modern design, setting a new benchmark in the electric vehicle market.

The 2025 Ather 450X is powered by AtherStack 6, the latest version of Ather’s software engine. It features Google Maps, Alexa, WhatsApp notifications on the dashboard, “Ping My Scooter” to help locate the vehicle, and live location sharing with a chosen contact.

The scooter is introduced in two new colours, Stealth Blue and Hyper Sand, and comes with upgraded tyres, improved chassis dynamics[1]  and better ride stability. As Sri Lanka moves toward greener transport options, the 2025 Ather 450X stands out as a powerful and , connected and sustainable urban transport choice.

Ather introduced an industry-first eight-year battery warranty, which gives customers long-term confidence in battery health, performance and replacement costs. The warranty covers up to eight years or 80,000 kilometres, with a 70 percent battery health assurance.

The new 450X is available in two battery configurations, offering a range of up to 161 km (IDC) and a TrueRange of 130 km. One of its standout features is the Multi-Mode Traction Control, which allowsallowed riders to choose between Rain, Road and Rally modes for better grip and control on various roads in Sri Lanka. Specially developed multi-compound tyres, created in partnership with MRF, further enhanced efficiency and range.

Colombo, Sri Lanka – POP Culture Festival 2026 concluded successfully at Port City Colombo, marking a turning point for Sri Lanka’s entertainment industry, and setting a new benchmark for world-class festivals in the country. With an international EDM DJ line-up who have all performed on Tomorrowland stages, it was a World Class line-up performing on a massive World Class stage.

Held on the 28th and 29th August, the two-day festival brought together an outstanding lineup led by world-renowned artists Alan Walker, Nicky Romero and South Korean pop (K-pop) sensation CHUNG HA. They were joined by several leading international and Sri Lankan artists, creating a powerful celebration of music, youth culture, creativity and live entertainment.

POP Culture Festival 2026 was brought to life by ShowUp Entertainment and Elephant House Cream Soda, united by a shared vision to elevate Sri Lankan entertainment, empower the country’s next generation of talent, and to create a platform capable of connecting them with the world.

POP Idol: Developing Sri Lanka’s First Global-Level Idols.

A defining part of POP Culture Festival 2026 was the POP Idol programme, a groundbreaking initiative created to discover, develop and introduce the next generation of Sri Lankan performers.

From thousands of applicants across the country, talented young performers were selected and guided through a professional development journey that included auditions, intensive training, performance preparation and mentorship. The programme was designed to develop not only vocal and dance abilities but also stage presence, discipline, confidence and the professionalism required to compete on an international level.

Through this journey, POP Idol introduced a new generation of solo performers and a girl group developed to global entertainment standards. Their appearance on the POP Culture Festival stage represented far more than a debut performance – it marked the beginning of a new pathway for Sri Lankan youth with ambitions of reaching international audiences.

Nations Trust Bank records PAT of LKR 15.6Bn in 1H 2026 following strategic acquisition

Nations Trust Bank PLC (NTB) reported a strong performance in the first six months ended 30th June 2026, recording a Profit After Tax (PAT) of LKR 15.6Bn.  Following a PAT of LKR 4.6Bn reported in Q1, the Bank’s performance accelerated significantly in the second quarter with operations commencing 1st May 2026, with the successful acquisition of HSBC Sri Lanka’s retail banking business, with an overall asset growth of 26% and a one-off tax credit attributing to the acquisition.

With the successful acquisition and integration of HSBC Sri Lanka’s retail banking portfolio in May 2026, the Bank consolidated it’s position as the market leader in credit cards and premium retail banking services.  A continued focus on service excellence, digital transformation, and disciplined risk management contributed to NTB’s strong first-half performance.

NTB’s performance is supported by healthy asset growth, stable Net Interest Margins (NIMs) at 5.58%, and disciplined risk management resulting in a Net Stage 3 Ratio of 1.05%. Return on Equity (ROE) increased to 31.33%, reflecting the Bank’s enhanced scale and earnings momentum following the acquisition.

Milco records Rs.1.49 Billion profit in 2025

State‑owned dairy company Milco (Pvt) Ltd achieved a historic financial turnaround last year, recording its highest‑ever net profit of Rs.1.49 billion by late 2025, according to Agriculture and Livestock Deputy Minister Namal Karunaratne.

Deputy Minister Karunaratne told Parliament last week that the recovery enabled the company to halt privatization plans, clear debts, and extend unprecedented financial benefits. 

On December 31, 2025, Milco disbursed a performance bonus of Rs.75,000 each to all 1,228 employees. In addition, Rs.180 million in profit‑sharing incentives was distributed among 22,000 dairy farmers, marking the first such payout in 21 years.

He further said that Milco had previously accumulated Rs.3.5 billion in bank loans and Rs.1.7 billion in outstanding payments owed to milk‑supplying farmers, but all debts have now been settled.

He further announced that the long‑delayed Badalgama milk factory project will recommence, with capacity to process up to 200,000 liters of milk daily. 

Plans are also underway to upgrade the National Livestock Development Board’s farm in Nikaweratiya, with an additional Rs.1 billion budget allocated to supply high‑yield dairy heifers and male stock to local farmers.
